Although ADHD doesn’t have a cure, individuals who have ADHD can experience a recovery in their mental health. Recovery should be seen as continual and ongoing management of their ADHD symptoms. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA) says the two most important elements of mental health recovery are to live a meaningful life, and work toward one’s full potential. These goals are achievable for people with ADHD. Although they have many challenges, there are resources available that can help them reach a level of well-being marked by being independent, having healthy interdependence, hope, and personal satisfaction, even though they live with ADHD.
